Christian leaders delusional about presidency: Jumblatt
Written by Najib

BEIRUT: Some of Lebanon’s major Christian leaders are still holding on to their “delusional” ambition of becoming president, making the country unable to exit the current vacuum, Progressive Socialist Leader Walid Jumblatt said.

“Part of the dispute is over the appointment of an Army commander,” Jumblatt said in an interview with Al-Akhbar, citing reasons for the current political deadlock in the country. “But the major dispute remains around some Christian leaders’ delusional thought that one of them will become president. I say this very frankly.”

He explained that while neither of the candidates he was referring to would be accepted by the rival political camp, the candidates have yet to be convinced that their bids are hopeless.
