Car free day for Beirut’s Hamra Festival

BEIRUT: A car-free street festival kicked off in the Beirut district of Hamra at 10 a.m. Sunday, including various activities and performances.

The festival “Hamra has its Talents” is organized by Ahla Fawda (Best Chaos) organization under the sponsorship of Tourism Minister Michel Pharaon.

Vehicles are not allowed onto Hamra Street from the Picadelly Center to Sadat Street during the 13-hour festival. The road will be reopened at 11 p.m.

The festival will include a flower market, a book exhibition, talents and fashion shows, entertainment performances and musicals as well as activities and shows for children.

According to the organizers, the festival aims to highlight Lebanese talents and encourage creativity, art and culture among young people.

The proceeds of the event will fund environmental projects and activities in Hamra.
