BEIRUT - General Security chief General Abbas Ibrahim was instructed by President Michel Suleiman to head to Qatar to discuss the fate of the nuns from the Syrian Christian town of Maalula.

According to local media outlets, Ibrahim will head to Qatar on Saturday in an attempt to resolve the nuns’ case. LBC television reported that Ibrahim had contacted Al-Jazeera television to inquire about the source of the video that it aired Friday, which shows the nuns denying they were kidnapped by rebels. The brief video shows the women, apparently in good health and comfortable, dressed in black religious garb in a room.
