Truth behind the "revolution" against the Khazen family in Keserwan

The Khazen family has been serving Lebanon and more specifically the Keserwan area for centuries now and have been known for its generosity, fairness and kindness. Added to that, the Khazens have displayed strong leadership skills that have kept Keserwan and the Maronite Patriarchal seat safe and honored.

 

In that context and upon reading the below statement in ZoukMikhael's website, it is important to explain to all our readers the role the Khazens played during the so-called revolution led against them in the 18th century.

With the Ottoman occupation in 1541, Zouk was established as the first main headquarters of the State of Damascus, received several families, and witnessed important demographic and political changes. When the Turks left the village, the Al-Khazen family bought all their properties.


17th century: Under Al Khazen feudalism, the citizens of Zouk proved to be ardent defenders of social equality. 1831 : Zouk Mikael avoided defeat during the Lehfed revolt.

 

The Khazen family have been present in Keserwan way before the 17th century and have established themselves as Sheikhs and lords through their wisdom and intelligence and leadership. The Revolution against the Khazen family was fueled by the Ottomans who bribed few Lebanese into turning against the Khazen family growing influence and there are many articles supporting this fact.
